Chocolate Fudgerooney Oatmeal

Oatmeal sometimes needs chocolate in its life.

On another note, I have a feline cousin coming to visit me. I met him only once before, and it didn’t go the best. He had to bring up politics immediately, so it got awkward fast. So I’m kind of nervous…

Why This Is Awesome
It’s like a big fudgy brownie bowl!

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup milk I use whole
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 185 g of berries or other fruit (I used 1 peach in the photo)
  • 30 g semi-sweet chocolate chips 2 1/2 tablespoons

Instructions

  • In a small pot, add 2/3 cup old fashioned oats, 1 cup water, 1/3 cup milk, 1 tsp chia seeds, 1 1/2 tablespoons light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt.
  • Set pot on the stove over medium heat. Cook for about 5 minutes, until liquid has been absorbed and oatmeal has thickened.
  • While oatmeal is cooking, cut your 185 g of berries or other fruit into smaller pieces. I do 1/2 inch cubes, but precision isn't necessary.
  • Remove pot from stove, and add todo, and 30 g semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir until chocolate melts a little into the oatmeal. Serve immediately.
