Breakfast

Oatmeal Yum

I like oatmeal. Most oatmeal is kinda lame. But I think this oatmeal is a fun breakfast.

Why This Is Awesome
This oatmeal has fruit and melted chocolate in it, making it taste like dessert. It’s also a lot of food for just 300 calories, and it’s also a fiber bomb!

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup milk I use whole
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 15 g raisins (1 tablespoon)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 110 g strawberries
  • 75 g blueberries
  • 30 g semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 1/2 tablespoons)

Instructions

  • In a small pot, add 2/3 cup old fashioned oats, 1 cup water, 1/3 cup milk, 1 tsp chia seeds, 1 1/2 tablespoons light brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 15 g raisins, and a pinch of salt.
  • Set pot on the stove over medium heat. Cook for about 5 minutes, until liquid has been absorbed and oatmeal has thickened.
  • While oatmeal is cooking, cut your strawberries up into smaller pieces. I do 1/2 inch cubes, but precision isn't necessary.
  • Remove pot from stove, and add 110 g strawberries, 75 g blueberries, and 30 g semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir until chocolate melts a little into the oatmeal. Serve immediately.

Notes

  1. For the berries, you can use any kind of berries, and they can be fresh or frozen.
  2. You can substitute 10 g sweetened coconut flakes instead of the raisins, if you prefer. It will be the same amount of calories.
